Patsy Clairmont has been a speaker with “Women of Faith” for thirteen years. When I saw this book the title caught my attention, as well as, the name recognition of the author. The sub-title “Teaching Your Heart To See God’s Light Everywhere” hooked me. Some of you that know me, know that I love the symbolism of Christ as the Lighthouse. It wasn’t too hard to capture my interest with chapter titles like: Flashlight, Headlights, Purse Light, Exit Light, Spot Light, and Lighthouse to name a few.

The author opens the book by engaging the reader by rekindling memories of childhood and catching fireflies. The memories are then inter-twined with scripture and present a message and opportunity for growth with humor. One thing I liked about the book is that after each section Patsy Clairmont presents “Questions to Ask Yourself”. These questions would be great for a small group study or personal growth. However, I must also say that some of her humor is specifically geared to women and men reading the book may not care for it. She uses phrases in her writing like “Well, Hello” and “Well girls…”.

“We become lighthouses powered by the hope we have in Christ. We have the responsibility and joy of standing tall and shining bright-with all our heart, soul, and strength, right down to our last moments…”

I recommend this book to those who like light reading that challenges them to reflect on life and grow spiritually.
